PREPARING FILES FOR DIGITAL DIE-CUTTING
- Set-up artwork with a few millimetres of bleed (say 2mm all around).
- Gang up artwork efficiently onto a page – the more you can fit onto a page, the cheaper the cutting will be as we typically charge per page. Our flatbed cutter has a work area of 3050x1618mm. The page should be made as large as possible to fit within this area, taking into account handling issues, substrates available and final quantities required. For example, a job with 100 A2 pieces should typically be fitted 10 up on 10 sheets of 2440×1220 (sheet size being the most commonly available full sheet for most substrates).
- Place 5x 6mm diameter registration dots (solid black dots) evenly spaced around the perimeter of the sheet outside “final cut” area. This is typically 1 per each of 3 corners and 2 for the last corner (the 2 dots on 1 corner allows identification of orientation). The example of 10 A2 would look like this: (NB – the rego dots work by contrast. In cases where your background is dark, please make registration dots white).
- Print using this print file including the registration dots. (NB please ensure there are no cut lines printed. Any cut lines should be on a separate layer, turned off at this stage).
- Convert this file to outline and email it to us as the cut file. We accept AI or PDF files. It can be sent to: multicut@nullemergentdesigns.com.au or to your customer service contact.
- Please also send a PDF of the image with cut line showing as a visual guide for us.
